Career Highlights

  • Getting to race at the Junior Worlds has been pretty inspiring.

2011 Highlights

  • I was generally pleased with how I did at the Canadian Championships in the Yukon, especially in the middle.

When and how did you get involved with orienteering?
When I was 8, my family decided they wanted orienteering to be one of their main sports. We would go on lots of road trips to Ontario and the north east US to compete in events. It was some of those events that got me hooked.
What do you love most about orienteering?
Orienteering is always a challenge. I also love the feeling of knowing that a control is going to be just over that hill, or on the other side of that boulder, and then actually seeing it!
What is your favourite orienteering discipline, and why?
The middle is my favourite discipline because its still fast paced, but technical. You have to strike a careful balance.
Which orienteering event is always on your calendar?
The Sass Peepre training camp and the COCs. It’s so much fun every year!
Do you have an orienteering idol? If so, who and why?
Ida Bobach. It’s incredible how she is so good at all distances and how driven she is to succeed.
What was the highlight of your 2011 season?
The highlight was getting to spend 8 weeks in the summer orienteering!
What are your 2012 orienteering goals?
To improve upon my results from last year’s JWOC.
What races are on your 2012 calendar?
JWOC in Slovakia and the Canadian Orienteering Championships.
What is your favourite international orienteering location?
Orienteering in Switzerland has been beautiful! It’s also been fun to get to go to Portugal in the middle of winter and orienteer.
When you’re not orienteering, where can we find you?
Studying in Squamish!
