Selection process for the 2011 World Ski Orienteering Championships

The details for selection to the Canadian team to compete at the 2011 World Ski Orienteering Championships March 20 – 28 in Sweden are available here. The application deadline in December 29, 2010.

The Ski-Orienteering World Championships consists of the following races: Sprint distance, middle distance, sprint (mixed) relay, long distance and traditional relay.

The event organizers and the IOF would like to increase the number of countries participating at the World Championships in Ski Orienteering. Consequently, Canada has been offered free entry for 2 men and 2 women plus one team official. The organizers are also willing to provide free accommodation in Tänndalen for those 5 individuals. The athletes and team officials would be responsible for all costs related to the trip, such as travel, food, domestic travel, uniform. There are basic cooking facilities at the accommodation to help to keep the costs down. Canada can enter up to 7 men and 7 women.
