There are two positions available for the Foothills Wanderers Orienteering Club’s Junior Development Program (JDP). These are based in Calgary.

Junior Program Coordinator Position

JDP payroll/employee position. Hours are variable and can range from 5-8 hours per week. Handles the day-to-day operations of JDP. This includes (but not exclusively): registration, junior events organization, scheduling, website management, budget and purchasing responsibilities. Successful applicant will provide technical support to the Junior Program. The Junior Program Coordinator reports to the VP Juniors and works closely with the Coaching Master and the parents and junior athletes. Salary will be commensurate with background and experience.

The successful applicant will:

  1. have a reasonable amount of orienteering experience
  2. have excellent communication skills
  3. possess computer skills including a good understanding of website management
  4. provide a police information check
  5. have first aid certification
  6. be prepared to complete the community coaching workshop (if not already completed)

Junior Coaching Master Position

JDP payroll/employee position. Hours are variable and can range from 8-12 hours per week. Is responsible for the implementation, delivery and on going update of the coaching curriculum that is used for all juniors ranging from 6 to 18 years of age. The Coaching Master reports to the VP Juniors and works closely with the Junior Development Program Coordinator and the volunteer coaches to ensure the best delivery of the coaching curriculum.  Salary will be commensurate with background and experience.

The successful applicant will:

  1. have a reasonable amount of orienteering experience
  2. have a good understanding of long term athlete development
  3. provide a police information check
  4. have first aid certification
  5. be prepared to complete the community coaching workshop (if not already completed)
