Congratulations to award winners Jim Webster and Brent Langbakk

Congratulations to orienteers Jim Webster and Brent Langbakk who have both won awards relating to their involvement with orienteering.

Jim Webster was recognized with Sport BC’s Community Sport Hero Award for his work spearheading the 2010 North American Orienteering Championships (NAOCs) in Kimberley and Cranbrook. Over 500 athletes competed¬† and the championships set a very high standard¬† for future North American championships.

Founded in 2001, the Community Sport Hero Awards recognize coaches, officials, mentors and administrators who have dedicated themselves to grow and develop amateur sport at the community level. The dedication and leadership of these individuals have allowed athletes and communities to grow and shape sport in British Columbia and inspire others to become involved in sport.

Brent Langbakk was awarded 2010 Coach of the Year by Sport Yukon. Brent, a former member of Canada’s national team, is the head coach of the Yukon Orienteering Association’s very successful junior program. At the 2010 Canadian championships in Ottawa, Yukon athletes won a record 27 medals.

Congratulations Jim and Brent. Thanks for all the fantastic work you do to make orienteering stronger in Canada!
