Jack Lee has let us know that Lars Carlson a pioneer in Canadian Orienteering passed away Friday morning (June 15). Lars was the president of the Ontario Orienteering Association in the 60s. Among his orienteering accomplishments, Lars organized and accompanied the first group of Canadian juniors to take part in O-Ringen. He was part of the team that introduced orienteering in Manitoba and he brought the first Swedish mappers to Canada to map Ganaraska and as well as organize the Canadian championships there. Lars also was involved in bringing a touring public relations team from Sweden to help spread orienteering in Canada.
The COF Board of Directors sends their sympathies to the Carlson family.
