Who says you can’t do it all? For Barb Campbell, no one. “I love being out in nature.”… The 2013 Canadian Orienteering Championships are in Hamilton Oct 11 – 13, 2013. Registration is now open and there is a strict limit of 300 participants per race for environmental reasons. The entry limit of 300 will be made on a first come, first serve basis. We want to make sure that Canadian orienteers who want to compete at these Canadian Championships register early to ensure their spot. A big thank to Golden Horseshoe Orienteering for organizing these championships.
The following athletes are selected to the team that will represent Canada at the 2013 World Orienteering Championships in Finland July 6 – 14, 2013. The events that they have been selected to run is also included. Women Men The following athletes have been named as alternates to the team: The team will be coached at WOC by Toni Louhisola, and the team leader will be Meghan Rance. The selection committee considered results from the team trials in NY (May 10-12, 2013), results in 2013 events, results in 2012 events, training dedication and long-term potential. Best wishes from the selection committee to all the selected athletes for a successful championship in Finland. WOC selection committee: The WOC selection committee was appointed by the High Performance Committee. The Board of Directors of Orienteering Canada and the members of the High Performance Committee would like to thank the selection committee for their volunteer work. Building upon the success of the past seven years of National Orienteering Week (NOW), which wrapped up Sunday May 12th; Orienteering Canada’s board of directors announced today that NOW 2014 will be from May 3rd to 11th, 2014. The 8-day celebration of the navigation sport is a cornerstone in the growth of the sport across Canada. The annual event coincides with the start of the spring season in Canada. Below is the Orienteering Canada press release. Canadian orienteers Kerstin Burnett of Whitehorse and Emily Kemp of Ottawa will be competing at the 2013 Nordic Tour World Cups June 1 to 8 in Norway, Sweden and Finland. In Oslo, Norway there will be sprint and middle distance races. There will be a knock-out sprint in Stockholm, Sweden. In Turku, Finland there will be a sprint and a chasing start. Go Kerstin and Emily! There are over 20 beginner-friendly orienteering events happening across Canada this week. This a great time to try the sport of orienteering. Per our appeal policy, the appeal was handled by an independent arbitrator who decided to deny the appeal. The arbitrator directed that the result of the decision – that the appeal is denied – is public knowledge. The arbitrator also directed that the specific text of decision and the written submissions that were part of the appeal process should remain confidential and between the two Parties. |
