2014 is looking to be an exciting year for elite orienteering in Canada. We have 3 high-level international competitions with JWOC, WOC, and WUOC this year. We have a WOC 2015 training camp in Scotland in July. In Canada itself we have the COCs and NAOCs, which are both shaping up to be fabulous events. There is so much great opportunity for our High Performance Athletes to compete against each other, as well as against other nations, at the highest level.
Given our limited volunteer and financial resources, the High Performance Committee (HPC) has decided to put the Canada Cup Elite Series on hold for 2014. There will still be several Canada Cup sanctioned races, and we strongly encourage clubs to host Canada Cup races in 2014 and we encourage great participation at these events.
The members of the HPC is working hard many other projects this year, and we are looking at ways to make our programs more sustainable so we can reintroduce the Canada Cup Elite Series in the future.
