2015 Orienteering Canada Conference

The Orienteering Canada conference is held in conjunction with the Canadian Orienteering Championships. It’s an ideal opportunity for Canadian orienteers to share information and ideas and to learn from interesting, topical speakers. It’s also a great time to learn about and get involved with the priority projects of Orienteering Canada and to contribute your ideas and energy.

Silent Auction

Coaching Workshop: Competition-Introduction
This will be the pilot course for Orienteering Canada’s newest level of our coaching program: Introduction to Competion. It will be approx 7 hours spread over the course of the week. Participation in all 3 sessions is required. Please consider taking this coaching course to develop your coaching repertoire. You do not need to be a trained Community Coach to qualify to take this workshop. Everyone with an interest in coaching (especially coaching juniors) are welcome. The cost of the workshop will be approximately $40. Ask your club or provincial association if they will sponsor you.

JWOC Athletes (ages 17-19) will describe their experiences competing for Canada July 4 to 10 in Rauland, Norway.
Where: Broadleaf Guest Ranch, 5526 New Brunswick 114, Riverside-Albert, NB E4H 4A3 (The location is 10 minutes’ drive south of Hopewell Rocks Provincial Park (site of HPP fundraiser on Monday morning) on Highway 114. It is just outside the village of Riverside-Albert.)

Jr Programs Across Canada – a roundtable discussion
Join us for a discussion to share information about current jr programs across the country, as well as talking about ideas for furthering jr orienteering.

The Orienteering Canada Annual General Meeting
The AGM is the one time of year when representatives of the Provincial and Territorial Associations gather to discuss and decide on the business tasks of Orienteering Canada (such as electing board members, making changes to the by-laws, reviewing the financial statements, etc). All are welcome to attend, though only the Associations’ confirmed representatives will be able to vote. All the details are here.

PechaKucha – orienteering style
Have you heard of PechaKucha? It’s a presentation methodology in which 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each for a max of 6 minutes, 40 seconds/presenter. There will be different presenters on a wide range of orienteering related topics. Each presentation will be short and sweet. We have done this a few times and it is lots of fun!
