Icebug has generously provided a number of coupons for $100 off a pair of Icebug shoes, purchased on-line or in person at There are 3 ways to win.

  1. #orienteerNOW – post on facebook, twitter or instagram between June 3rd and June 15th, 2015 using the hashtag #orienteerNOW. Helps us promote NOW through your social media channels. We’ll select some coupon winners from people who use the #orienteerNOW hashtag to promote National Orienteering Week, orienteering in general, or a specific NOW event.
  2. Video submission – make a video where you finish the sentence “Orienteering is a great sport because…” Send us the video ( or post it on our social media. We’ll select some coupon winners from people who submit a video.
  3. Club report – orienteering clubs, send us an email telling us how many newcomers came out to your NOW event(s) and we’d love it if you sent us some pictures too. We’ll select some clubs to receive a coupon and you can create a fun way to give it away to a club member.



Orienteering Canada welcomes Icebug as sponsor


Orienteering Canada is excited to announce a partnership with Icebug. Icebug is a global leader in creating innovative shoes for trail and off trail activities. Icebug makes shoes specifically designed for orienteering, OCR and trail running.

Icebug is sponsoring Orienteering Canada’s High Performance Program: a support system for many of Canada’s top and up-and-coming elite orienteers.  Icebug is also sponsoring National Orienteering Week (NOW) in conjunction with with the goal of increasing awareness about the exciting sport of orienteering. 2015’s National Orienteering Week is June 6 to 14 and orienteering clubs across Canada will be putting on beginner friendly orienteering events to encourage people to try the sport.

Employment Opportunity: Orienteering Mapper

Orienteering Canada have a number of mapping projects to be completed in 2015.

The following cities have one position available; Calgary, Alberta; Whitehorse,Yukon; Brandon, Manitoba; Squamish, Whistler and Sechelt Pennisula, B.C; and Ottawa, Ontario.

Two positions are available near Hinton, Alberta.

Job Duties: Field checking of several forested areas in and near the following cities: Field work on urban sprint maps may be required. Other duties include map drafting to current ISOM and ISSOM standards, artwork and legend using current orienteering mapping software, such as OCAD.

Terms of Employment: Temporary contract positions are available from 4 to 16 weeks depending on the locations and your ability to relocate between provinces at the employer’s expense. Applicants may specify the area they are able to work in.

Wage: $25 – $30 per hour depending on experience. 40 hours/week max

Education and Work Experience required: No particular formal education requirements, however applicants must be fully conversant with International Orienteering Federation standards for preparation of orienteering maps including ISOM and ISSOM. Applicants must be able to provide examples of orienteering maps previously completed.

Must be a member of the Canadian Orienteering Mapper Registry.

Benefits: Room and Board housing and a vehicle will be provided.
