Orienteering and ParticipACTION's 150 Play List

ParticipACTION’s 150 Play List includes 150 physical activities that make us Canadian. The Play List is a challenge to Canadians in communities, schools, workplaces, and even abroad to see how many different activities they can complete in 2017.

Orienteering is on the 150 Play List. We are so excited to see how many Canadians we can get orienteering!

Here are the ways to maximize benefits to your club/association from orienteering being on ParticipACTION’s 150 Play List.

  1. Register your event(s) on ParticipACTION’s 150 Play List events and programs schedule
    By doing this you can:
    > Receive a 150 Play List Event Celebration Kit containing signage, prizes and more (while supplies last)
    > Have your event or program, if open to the pubic, showcased on ParticipACTION’s Event List for Canadians to see and join in on the fun
    > Be eligible for a micro-grant (grant application and guidelines can be found HERE). To be eligible for a grant, the programs or events should be inclusive, open to all free of charge, or at a minimal cost, and give the participants the opportunity to complete one or more of the physical activities (ie orienteering) on the 150 Play List. Micro grants range from $300 to $1,000.

How many people can we get orienteering on May 24??
We encourage you to register any and all of your beginner friendly orienteering events this year. We really, really, really want you to register your beginner friendly orienteering events that are around National Orienteering Week (May 20-28) and World Orienteering Day (May 24). May 24 is the day that ParticipACTION will help us celebrate orienteering be putting on an extra promotional effort to get people out orienteering. We want to have many, many opportunities across the country for people to try orienteering.

    Register your event at:

  2. Use the 150 Play List promotional toolkits to help you promote your event. ParticipACTION has created 3 tool kits which oodles of great resources:
    >Community Toolkit
Resources to support your 150 Play List community event or program, such as a planning manual, printable posters and a social media kit.
    >Workplace Toolkit
Resources to get employees active with the 150 Play List during the workday, including a Playbook with ideas and promotional tools.
    >School Toolkit
Resources to get students moving at school with the 150 Play List, including a planning manual, an activity passport, tools to hold 150 Play List Play Days and more.

Remember that World Orienteering Day 2017, Orienteering Canada’s 2017 National Orienteering Week and ParticipACTION’s 150 Play List celebration of orienteering are all happening together. An amazing opportunity to get more Canadians orienteering!
