Job Opportunity: Orienteering Mapper Yukon 2022

Orienteering Canada is looking for a mapper to work in Yukon in 2022.

Job duties
Field checking and mapping of areas near Whitehorse and Carcross, Yukon. Mapping must be done to current ISOM standards using current orienteering mapping software, such as OCAD or OpenOrienteering Mapper. LIDAR is available for the basemaps.

Terms of employment
Temporary contract position for 8 to 10 weeks depending on the estimation of the time needed to complete the project.

Work start:  Spring 2022

Language of work: English

Wage: $25 – $30 per hour depending on experience. 40 hours/week max

Benefits:  housing and a vehicle will be provided.

Locations of work: Mt McIntyre Recreation Centre, Whitehorse (6-8 weeks), and Lewes Creek near Carcross, Yukon (2 weeks).

Skills requirements:   No formal education requirements, however applicants must be fully conversant with International Orienteering Federation standards for preparation of orienteering maps including ISOM and ISSprOM. Five or more years of orienteering mapping experience is desirable. Applicants must be able to provide examples of orienteering maps previously completed and to be proficient with mapping software such as OCAD and OpenOrienteering Mapper.

Applicants must be able to work in Canada (Canadian residence or work permit).
