They received another 25 cm of snow yesterday on top of 30 cm that was already on the ground – and deemed that it would not be a fair World Ranking Event because of all the snow cover. The organizers are considering 2 other dates (May 11 or Nov 8) and will make a decision in the next few weeks. You’ll find the latest info on the event website.

JWOC 2008 is in Sweden June 30 - July 6th. Ted de St. Croix will soon be selecting the 2008 JWOC team. As announced last spring, the selection will be made based on results at the 2007 Canadian Orienteering Championships which were held in Saskatchewan in July. Also, Ted MAY make some discretionary picks for individuals who were unable to attend the COCs. If you meet the eligibility for JWOC (born in 1988 or later and having a Canadian passport) and plan to attend if you are selected to the team, please inform Ted (at tdsc_at_sotique.com) by November 30, 2007. Ted will select the team from that list of individuals. Up to 6 men and 6 women will be chosen.
The athletes will be responsible for all costs relating to their trip to JWOC. The athletes are expected to be actively involved in fundraising events to raise money for the High Performance Program fund, which will hopefully result in some money being refunded back to the athletes at the end of 2008.
