Job Opportunity: Orienteering Mapper Alberta 2024

Orienteering Canada and the Alberta Orienteering Association are looking for a mapper to work in Alberta in 2024.

Job duties

Field checking and mapping of a forested area in Alberta. Mapping has to be done to current ISOM standards using current orienteering mapping software, such as OCAD.

Terms of employment

Temporary contract position for 4 to 8 weeks depending on the precise location of mapping area that will be defined, and the estimation of the time needed to complete the project.

  • Work start: anytime between June and September 2024 (last week of work should be the first week of October maximum)
  • Language of work: English
  • Wage: $25 – $30 per hour depending on experience. 40 hours/week max
  • Benefits: Assistance finding housing and a vehicle will be provided.

Location of work: Dalmuir, approximately 50 km NE of Edmonton, AB

Skills requirements: No formal education requirements, however applicants must be fully conversant with International Orienteering Federation standards for preparation of orienteering maps including ISOM and ISSprOM. Applicants must be able to provide examples of orienteering maps previously completed and to be proficient with OCAD mapping software.

Applicants must be able to work in Canada (Canadian resident or work permit).
